I'm Barbie!

My name is Barbara Matheus and I am a licensed Cosmetologist. I proudly own an independent studio at Phenix Salons called Barbara Shop. I am located on Waterstone Boulevard in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have been in the business of Cosmetology since 1981. As a Military Spouse for 11 years and traveling abroad and stateside, I have a variety of experience in many different hair types and fashions. I pride myself on knowing decades of styles and haircuts. With a passion for hair-color and formal styling, I am always looking to learn new and upcoming trends. I have been a resident in Ohio for the past 25 years. I am a mother of 5 beautiful children; Tony, Luke, Amy, Ben and Aubrey. I have been married to my wonderful husband Mike for over 40 years. Outside of work, my interests are Running, Biking, Sewing and Crafting!

I got my career started in my home state of Wisconsin. I worked at a few different salons. The first being Boston Store Salon before working at Guys & Dolls. During my time in Milwaukee Wisconsin, I interned at a barber called Poor Richards. My family and I then moved to Guam where I worked at a salon called Artistic Impressions. For a short while we also lived in Wichita, Texas where I worked at a salon called Regis. At last, we found a permanent home in Ohio where I worked at Great Clips, JC Penney’s, and finally Phenix Salons. I will likely be staying in this Salon until I retire and hope to see you stop in!
